Project Summary:
The Portland Business Alliance office was a tenant improvement in the World Trade Center of downtown Portland. The Alliance is the Greater Portland Chamber of Commerce and a leading voice for business in the region. They advocate for business at all levels of government to support commerce, community health and the region’s overall prosperity. As our client, it was important that their new office be welcoming and have the capacity to support large board meetings.
My roles in the project included producing the Revit model, creating construction documents, permitting the project, and overseeing it during construction. The largest challenges of the project were the reception and the boardroom. The design for the reception was an open-to-structure, minimalist look, which came with difficulties inherent with working in an existing building. The details had to be carefully thought through and the MEP well coordinated to get the refined look we were hoping for.
The boardroom is a large meeting space, with quite a bit of audiovisual equipment and the ability to divide the room in two. We worked prudently to ensure a full boardroom could exit safely in the event of an emergency, and the room would function excellently for the office’s needs.
